Hi!

I am Kristen, owner, and designer of striped lemon. My story starts at work:

I was in a meeting, discussing marketing and billboards and… BAM! The idea popped into my head! How about upcycling vinyl billboards into cool stylish bags and totes? Simple.

The next thing you know, I have two billboards in my workshop and I started creating. Figuring out how to work the vinyl and pick just the right images inspired me! Wow, my creativity kicked in and I felt alive. I showed the bags to my friends and they were a huge hit. I sold my first bag.

This idea is a beautiful blend of my childhood and my first business.

I grew up sewing with my mom and sister at a very young age on my mom’s Singer sewing machine that she got as a wedding gift. Years later, my first business was a consignment boutique. I operated the business for 7 years and loved the upcycling of clothing, designing window displays and engaging with my customers. Bringing the two elements of sewing to create and building my business together is a perfect match.

Each bag is unique and one of a kind. I use the elements on the vinyl to bring new life to the material. I also embellish them with designs that I love, like the ocean, and other interests that spark my creative spirit.
