Odyssey Bookshop is a locally owned independent bookshop founded in 1963 by French-Canadian immigrant Romeo Grenier. His daughter Joan runs the South Hadley, MA business today, offering 20% off to (pre-k – 12) teachers, homeschoolers, and librarians. Every day!

Marlene and Tom England run the Curious Iguana bookstore in Frederick, MD as a benefit corporation. Every month, they donate a portion of the sales to different non-profits such as Children of Incarcerated Parents Partnership (COIPP), Equal Justice Initiative, Human Rights Initiative of North Texas, Universal Hope Initiative, and UPAVIM (unidas para vivir mejor). On top of all that, they offer a 20% educator discount every day for school purchases!

Old Firehouse Books is a local, independent bookstore in Fort Collins, Colorado named after the historic building they call home. Owners Susie Wilmer and Dick Sommerfeld also offer a 20% teacher discount to anyone at a K-12 school!

Thrift Books is the world’s largest online independent used book seller but they haven't forgotten about social responsibility. For example:

• They purchase books from charities to help raise funds that get returned to the charity.
• Books that can't be used are responsibly recycled into post-consumer copy paper.
• Together with non-profits, they donate books and time to underserved communities, including Title I schools, prison libraries, and international literacy programs.
