ALEXANDRA MORTATI

Hello, I’m Alexandra, known as Azie, and I am the Director of Marketing for Orlando Foods, an Italian Food Importing company started by my great-grandfather. My life is a never-ending quest for stories, whether within the pages of books, the magic of films, exploring new horizons through travel, or savoring the artistry of and behind food. My greatest joy lies in the company of friends and family, where new stories are born with every shared moment.

Almost five years ago, I launched Women in Pizza, with my friend and colleague, Casey Derk, as a grassroots social movement evolving into a non-profit that celebrates the strength, resilience, and impactful stories of extraordinary women in the pizza industry. In my onboarding at Orlando Foods, I learned about the Women in Pizza Power Hours they would do at the Pizza Expo, and I immediately asked why this was something highlighted one hour of the year and not all the time. It was clear to me that Orlando Foods wanted to provide a platform that recognized and celebrated the women in the industry, so I asked them if they would support me in creating a movement that not only gave women a voice, but also provided women with opportunities and opened doors. In a world where gender equality is a constant pursuit, I wanted to create something that would become a beacon of inspiration, embodying the spirit of change.

Our members’ diverse experiences, backgrounds, and accomplishments, traverse borders, disciplines, and generations. From expert pizzaiole and innovative chefs to entrepreneurs who’ve carved a niche in the industry, these women exemplify the courage it takes to challenge the status quo and pave the way for future generations.

Join me in growing a movement that gives voice to the under-represented female segment of pizzaioli and inspires more women to follow their pizza passion and join the industry.
