QUEER/WOMEN-OWNED INDEPENDENT BOOKSTORE

We're Wayfaring Booksellers, a queer/women-owned bookstore in Lansing, MI. Our mission is to celebrate and amplify queer books and stories while uplifting the LGBTQIA+ community.

Located inside the REO Town Marketplace, our space may not be large, but it's filled with a specially curated selection of used, collectible, and new books. We've been selling books inside of the Marketplace since late 2021–first as part of the Jolly Holiday Market, then opening our own permanent spot here in January 2022.

We stock a variety of different genres and authors, but queer books and authors hold a special place in our hearts. It's our goal to curate a space where you can find queer books on every shelf and to celebrate those stories every day. We also host a monthly book club centered around queer stories. Check out our book club tab for more info!

Casey has been a bookseller for almost five years. She specializes in all things spooky and is a horror and weird fiction aficionado. Some of her favorite authors include Shirley Jackson, Carmen Maria Machado, and Julia Armfield. When she's not slinging books, you can find her spending time with her cat, Nemo, whose hobbies include hunting Casey for sport and being a general menace to society.

Eleanor is a self-taught book nerd, reading everything from speculative queer fiction to historical queer analysis. After working for 10 years in professional theatre, Eleanor found her love for sharing stories translated effortlessly to selling books, and here we are. Favorite authors include Louise Erdrich, Ocean Vuong, Becky Chambers and Tamsyn Muir.

Come visit us at 1023 S. Washington Avenue and talk books with us!
