ABOUT
Sunflower Bakery started as a casual conversation between Laurie Wexler and Sara Portman Milner. Sparked by a sweet tooth and a passion for ensuring that people of all abilities have access to meaningful employment, Sara and Laurie envisioned the art of pastry and baking as a pathway to opportunities for people with learning differences.
Today, that vision is a reality.
Sunflower Bakery enables pathways to employment for young adults and teens with learning differences through pre-employment exposure and workforce development training in Pastry Arts, Hospitality and related industries. Sunflower provides an inclusive, one-of-a-kind professional training experience that combines technical hard skills with soft skills of employment readiness.
OUR IMPACT Sunflower Bakery is creating opportunity and changing lives. Since 2010, Sunflower has touched the lives of over 550 teens and young adults with learning differences.
