ABOUT
Remy Wines is a Willamette Valley winery founded in 2006 by queer winemaker and true Oregonian, Remy Drabkin. Born and raised in McMinnville, Remy came up in the cellars of Willamette Valley greats and by the age of eight, she knew she wanted to become a winemaker herself.
Remy Wines produces northern Italian varieties grown in the Pacific Northwest, Willamette Valley legacy grapes and emerging varieties in her hometown of McMinnville, Oregon. Consistent throughout is Drabkin’s unmistakable flair for innovation and her healthy disregard for convention.
The Remy Wines portfolio is divided into three labels: Remy Wines, under which single-varietal expressions of northern Italian grapes like Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, Dolcetto and Lagrein are found; Three Wives, an homage to her vibrant family which includes accessible cuvées of white, red and rosé wines each year; and the emerging Black Heart Series, including odes to Super Tuscans, Bordeaux-style Malbec-Carménère blends, Willamette Valley Chardonnays and a Méthode Champenoise sparkling wine.
In the summer of 2022, Remy Wines opened a new 5,000-square-foot winery facility adjacent to the farmhouse tasting room which was constructed with a carbon-neutral concrete formula bearing her name: the Drabkin-Mead Formulation. Remy Wines was the first commercial winery built with this concrete mix, which has been made open source to enable other sustainably-minded businesses to construct with this carbon-mitigating material.
In addition to being one of the few prominent queer winemakers in Oregon, Drabkin has dedicated over 12 years to public service. Remy currently serves as the Mayor of McMinnville – and as the first woman and first queer-identified person to hold the office. Remy is the Co-Founder of Wine Country Pride, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, bringing LGBTQ+ Pride celebrations to rural Oregon and Remy Wines hosts Queer Wine Fest, an annual celebration of queer-made and queer-grown wines that’s received national acclaim.
