ABOUT

FSL sits at a powerful crossroads of Midwestern values, unwavering sense of purpose, and unparalleled expertise in its field.

This unique combination of attributes has led to more than 50 years of mutual success for FSL and our partners.

We look forward to the next 50 years as we collaborate and innovate with agents, actuaries, reinsurers, and other intermediaries in crafting custom insurance solutions for those we serve — our policyholders.

SEE MORE, DO MORE

FSL’s 20+ year partnership with The OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation helps bring an annual vision clinic with free eye exams and glasses for underprivileged students in grades K-12 from FSL's hometown, Kansas City, Missouri.

What started out as a one-day clinic has grown to a week-long vision event serving students who otherwise might not have the opportunity to get prescriptive glasses.

Through this clinic, the students receive eye exams and glasses for free regardless of insurance coverage or the ability to pay. The kids select their frames and then simply wait while the glasses are made on site. Each year, over 90 percent of children attending the clinic receive eyeglasses and/or a referral for further vision services.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of something that started small in the early 2000s and watch it blossom into the program it is now," says Melinda Everley, an FSL program director. “Brighter futures for children with vision needs drives our passion to be involved.”

In 2022, the impacts of OneSight Vision Clinic included:

520 students received an eye exam and glasses, if needed
488 students walked away from the clinic with a new pair of eye glasses
92.8% of patients seen at the clinic needed glasses
The OneSight Foundation’s mantra is, “We see a bright future. A world where everyone, especially children, can see more and be more.”

FSL underwrites part of the cost of the Vision Clinic and coordinates a team of engaged volunteers, including numerous FTJ/FSL employees. Vision insurance is FSL's largest product line, so financial support and participation in the Vision Clinic is a logical extension for the Company.

“FSL is proud to be a part of this effort, and grateful for the teamwork of the organizations that come together to help our local children improve their vision and see a better future,” says FSL President Bryce Jones.
