Cafe con Libros (coffee with books) is an Intersectional Feminist community bookstore and coffee shop.

Through our choice of books, programming and great coffee, we endeavor to create a vibrant community space where everyone

specifically women, girls and non-binary folx feel centered, affirmed and celebrated.

The Origin Story.
People often ask: “why Cafe con Libros? Isn’t this a Black-Owned Bookstore?

They also ask? “why an intersectional feminist bookstore?

Here’s our answer.

Our Story
Inspired by the Toni Morrison quote “If there’s a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, then you must write it” owner and founder Kalima DeSuze, MSW opened Cafe con Libros as an intersectional feminist bookstore and coffeeshop in Brooklyn, NY.

​In 2015, Kalima became serious about moving her ideas into action. She asked, “what/where do I spend the most amount of money?” It was clear: books and travel. And, not just any book; books written by, for and about womxn.

After a trip to Ethiopia, where she witnessed the magic of a community coffee shop, she instantly knew she would open a bookstore and coffeeshop.

The doors opened in December 2017.
