Madeline Chan gave up corporate law to open up this coffee shop where her small business lets her work with refugees in Thailand to provide them a source of income. She also supports a Pay-It-Forward board where anyone can buy a coffee or toast to provide free to a future customer in need!
Nadi Chan and Lim Wei Jie founded Foreword Coffee Roasters to “inspire the can-do spirit to realise the potential in every individual", especially by providing jobs for people with disabilities and special needs.
Along the way, they've grown to 4 locations, committed 5% of sales to community development projects in coffee growing regions in Asia, and created an eco-friendly small business with compostable coffee bags and upcycled furniture!
Cheryl Ou was already running The Nail Social (providing vocational training to underprivileged women!) when she and husband Daniel Yeow opened up The Social Space.
With 2 locations, they run a zero-waste cafe and a retail store for eco- and socially-conscious products from over 60 social enterprises and non-profits!
While Ray Khoo was running S17 Community Kitchen and providing free meals to local elderly residents in need, he noticed that more than a few of them were also facing healthcare issues, particularly dementia. That prompted him to start S17 Community Cafe, creating a space for coffee for everyone but also free dementia programs for those who need it.
